Perceptual Quality Dimensions of Spoken Dialogue Systems: a Review and New Experimental Results
نویسنده
چکیده
Spoken dialogue systems, i.e. computer systems which enable a more-or-less “natural” human-machine interaction via spoken language, become increasingly popular for a number of applications. When interacting with such a system, the human user may differentiate several perceptual dimensions which contribute to the overall quality of the service. This paper reviews multidimensional analyses which have been carried out in the past to identify these dimensions. The results are compared to new experimental data which have been obtained with the INSPIRE system for controlling domestic devices. This analysis reveals five categories of quality aspects which can be assumed to have general significance for the perceived quality, across a larger number of systems and services.

This article describes efforts which have recently been undertaken by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T) to agree on common methods for evaluating telephone services based on spoken dialogue systems. As a result of these efforts, a new ITU-T Recommendation P.851 (2003) has been approved. It summarizes on the one hand the factors of the system, of the service and of the user which...
متن کاملEvaluating Automatic Dialogue Strategy Adaptation for a Spoken Dialogue System
In this paper, we describe an empirical evaluation of an adaptive mixed initiative spoken dialogue system. We conducted two sets of experiments to evaluate the mixed initiative and automatic adaptation aspects of the system, and analyzed the resulting dialogues along three dimensions: performance factors, discourse features, and initiative distribution. Our results show that 1) both the mixed i...
